Top Realtor empowers the Colorado Real Estate market.

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Colorado State FlagI recently read an article in one of the Realtor publications that was about Lane Hornung.  I was really impressed with what he has accomplished, and thought he would a great topic for those of you considering a career in Colorado Real Estate.

Mr. Hornung is a native Coloradoan, and served in the United States Marine Corps as a Cobra helicopter pilot.  He is a member of the  Re/Max Platinum Club, and also served as their Vice President of Business Development.  Mr. Hornung also holds the e-Pro designation, which is held by less than 1% of Realtors nationwide!  All Realtors who hold this designation have not only embraced technology in regards to real estate, but have demonstrated a level of expertise.

Mr. Hornung has indeed displayed his internet expertise with the ultimate resource for Colorado Real Estate. Colorado Home Finder is probably one of the sharpest websites I have come across.  It really does have almost everything you could need.  This site has access to 257 Colorado Cities and their listings.  When I checked their were almost 52,000!  If you are interested in working in any of these cities, Colorado Home Finder is a great site to start your research.

There is more than just listings on this site.  It has been designed as a one stop shop for anyone needing to buy, sell, or LEARN about Colorado Real Estate.   There is a searchable breakdown of every major Colorado Subdivision sorted by city, and gives you a current snapshot of the price range.  It also gives a just as detailed breakdown of Colorado High Schools, and will show you all homes available that are assigned to that school!  It does the same for all elementary schools, middle schools, zip codes, and just about any other parameter that is important to real estate.

Colorado Home Finder is based out of Boulder, but covers the entire state of Colorado.  If you are in the area, you might want to consider talking to Mr. Lane Hornung.  As with any state, you have to be licensed to practice real estate.   Your first step is taking the pre-licensing course.  A place you might want to check on for classes offered is the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  It is an excellent Colorado Real Estate School for those wanting to take the professional track.

Feel free to post some more school recommendations in the comments section.

Active Rain - Real Estate Agent Network

I love ActiveRain! This is hands down the most useful Real Estate Agent Network on the internet today! ActiveRain has over 30,000 real estate professionals in it’s network. There is a question and answer section for potential clients, a myriad of groups that cover all most every interest, and blogs! If you want a powerful real estate blog with an instant audience… ActiveRain is the place for you! The best thing though is…. IT’S FREE! ActiveRain does not charge you a dime for everything you get!

When I first came across ActiveRain, I erroneously judged it as one of the countless sites out there that take advantage of the average Reatlor’s lack of technical knowledge. After doing some careful research, I learned I was 100% wrong. My first blog was somewhat accusatory of ActiveRain regarding this fact. I felt pretty stupid when I learned that ActiveRain was quite beneficial to Realtors. The really cool thing from that was, my accusatory blog was never deleted. That shows you the character they have. Most places I know would take down anything that criticized them. I exchanged a few emails with ActiveRain Co-Founder Matt Heaton, and he told me that ActiveRain allows people to write whatever they please as long as it doesn’t break the law or violate common practice terms of service. That is outstanding!

So for all recent graduates, and those who will be doing so soon… if you are considering a career in the Real Estate industry, ActiveRain is a great place to get information and advice from a network of seasoned professionals all over North America.

Long live ActiveRain!

Real Estate Career out of College??

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Most people believe that careers in Real Estate are not for college graduates. This is probably due to the fact that a college degree is not required to get a real estate license. This fact does not mean that obtaining a real estate license is easy. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

Considering that the complexity of the real estate market is growing, homeowners are actively seeking educated Realtors. Almost any degree would provide a solid base for a successful real estate career.

Stay tuned for more real estate related advice.
